Social filtering
Revision as of 09:39, 10 January 2012 by Zeno Gantner (talk | contribs)
Social filtering systems work essentially the same way as collaborative filtering algorithms, but focus especially on the user's personal social network as a more influential component compared to the rest of the system's user base.
Historically, the term social information filtering has been used as a synonym for collaborative filtering.<ref>Upendra Shardanand, Pattie Maes: Social Information Filtering: Algorithms for Automating "Word of Mouth", CHI 1995</ref>
